Congratulations to the Holocaust Literary Competition winners Alaythia Brewer - 1st Place for “Requiem” piece and Alyn Arvizu - 3rd Place Holocaust Remembrance Essay Piece. Both will be honored at a service on April 16 at Zion Baptist Church. All are welcome. Students please check out our website and social medial platform for more information on the Holocaust Remembrance Service and also check with your ELA teacher as some are giving bonus points for attending.

Congratulations to CMM's Mathcounts team: Wesley Wynn Sahil Thorat, Max Shen, and Brian Han! They competed in the State level Mathcounts competition on 03/24 and placed third. Wesley Wynn placed 1st in the countdown round and 3rd as overall individual, earning him a place in the Louisiana State team to compete in the national competition on May 14-15 in Orlando, Florida. Aiden Zhao and Emersyn Whited also competed as individuals in the state competition. #cmmunity #cmmMathCounts

StuCo attended District Workshop at Northwood High School to work with other schools in our area and develop fun, new ideas for CMM! Renner Smith was sworn in as the District IX Parliamentarian. He will serve alongside high school students as an officer for our District.

Summer Reading is required for all students. The students will complete assignments based on these books during the first couple of weeks of school. For your convenience, these books are available for purchase on Payschools. You will
receive these books before school ends in May. Barnes & Noble will donate 30-35% of
the sales to CMM.

Books must be paid for prior to the deadline for the order to be filled. If you leave the book in your cart on JCampus and pay after the deadline, the books will not be ordered.
2023-2024 Seventh Graders
• All seventh graders will read Pay It Forward: Young Readers Edition and A
Long Walk to Water.
• Gateway students will also read a third book titled The Westing Game.
• All seventh graders will also need to purchase Fever 1793, which will be read
during class in August with the teacher (not over the summer.) The students
will annotate in this book and will need a print copy.
2023-2024 Eighth Graders
• All eighth graders will read Pay It Forward: Young Readers Edition and Circus
Mirandus.
• Gateway students are also required to read a third book titled Salt to the
Sea. This book is optional for Enriched/Non-Gateway students as a bonus
opportunity.
• All eighth graders will also need to purchase Call of the Wild, which will be
read during class in August with the teacher (not over the summer.) The
students will annotate in this book and will need a print copy.
The Black History Program will now take place on March 9, 9:00 am in the PAC.
