Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of February 27, 2023.
• This week is “Read Across America Week” at Herndon. K-2ndgrade students may accessorize their uniforms each day. Please see the Herndon website for the theme each day.
• All money and orders for Bunnies and Almonds are due Tuesday, February 28, but you may turn them in tomorrow,February 27. There will be prizes for the students that sell the most bunnies and almonds. Students that sell at least five items will receive a free dress pass.
• The 6th grade boys’ basketball team will play in the first round of the playoffs tomorrow at 5:00 PM. The game will be played at the Airline Drive Church of Christ in Bossier City.
• There will be an 8th Grade Night at North Caddo Magnet High School on February 28 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This will be a great opportunity to check out North Caddo Magnet High School. All permission slips to ride the bus must be turned in tomorrow, February 27.
• Magnet contract signing for kindergarten will be Tuesday, February 28, at 8:30 AM and at 6:00 PM.
• Artbreak t-shirt orders are due March 1. Students that purchase an ArtBreak t-shirt will receive a free dress day. 2nd and 3rdgrade students may wear their shirts when they attend ArtBreak in April. Herndon will receive a portion of all the ArtBreak t-shirts that are sold.
• Miles for Smiles will be servicing Herndon students on Thursday, March 2.
• The Lady Hawks Soccer Team will play at home on Thursday, March 2, at North Caddo Stadium against Elm Grove. The game starts at 5:30 PM and the admission is $5.00.
• Spring pictures will be taken at Herndon on Friday, March 3. Only students in spring picture clothes will take pictures. All other students must wear spirit clothes this day. All clothes must meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• The last day to wear the Hawks Have Heart T-Shirt is Tuesday, February 28. However, this shirt may be worn on Spirit Days. The following is a friendly reminder: On Monday – Thursday, only this year’s Spirit Shirt (Herndon Things) and PTSA Spirit wear may be worn. On Spirit Days, any Herndon shirt may be worn.
• An “Internet Safety and Device Training Workshop for Parents” will be held on Sunday, March 5, at 6:00 PM at Trinity Heights Baptist Church. For more information, please see the flyer on the Herndon website.
• Donations for the Choir trip to Hawaii are still being accepted on Local Level until March 1, 2023. Members of the Herndon choir will participate in the Heritage & Music Festival in Honolulu, Hawaii.
• There are only two weeks left in the third nine weeks reporting period. Please encourage your child to finish strong. The last day of the third nine weeks is Friday, March 10.
• For health and safety reasons, please remind your child not to share their food during lunch in the cafeteria.
