Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of March 6, 2023.
• An “Internet Safety and Device Training Workshop forParents” will be held tonight at 6:00 PM at Trinity Heights Baptist Church. For more information, please see the flyer on the Herndon website.
• Congratulations to 8th grader Jacob Liu for representing Herndon at the Regional Spelling Bee at LSU-S on Saturday, March 4.
• Congratulations to the 6th grade boys’ basketball team and their coaches for making it to the semi-finals last week.
• Congratulations to 7th grader, Kenzi Primm, for winning both the Grand Champion Bull and Reserve Champion Bull at Southern University’s 80th Livestock Show this weekend.
• This week is Student Council Week at Herndon for K-8. Please see the Herndon website for the theme each day. Tomorrow, March 6, students may wear Pajama bottom pants or sweat pants with any t-shirt that meets CPSB Dress Code Policy. Students not following CPSB Dress Code Policy will forfeit the privilege of wearing street clothes on Friday, March 10.
• The Lady Hawks Soccer Team will play three games this week. Tomorrow, they will play Southfield at Freedom Fields at First Baptist Bossier. On Tuesday, March 7, they will play Donnie Bickham at Lee Hedges Stadium. Tickets for this game must be purchased at Local Level. On Thursday, March 9, the Lady Hawks will play Calvary at North Caddo Stadium. This game starts at 5:30 PM and the admission is $5.00.
• There will be a 4-H meeting for middle school members on Tuesday, March 7.
• The third nine week reporting period ends Friday, March 10.The fourth nine weeks reporting period begins on Monday, March 20.
• Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour Saturday night before going to bed. Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 12.
• Schools will be closed for Spring Break from March 13 – March 17. Students return from Spring Break on Monday, March 20.
• An 8th Grade donation account has been set up at locallevelevents.com to help pay for the end of the year 8thgrade activities.
