Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of August 14, 2023.
• The first three days of school were great! Your children are amazing! Thank you for allowing us to teach them.
• If your child is a car rider, and wants to eat breakfast at school, he or she must arrive by 7:35 AM. The breakfast line closes at 7:55 AM.
• All transportation changes must be made through the office. We prefer transportation changes to be in writing, but you may call the office at 221-7676. Afternoon changes must be made by 2:15 PM.
• Every student in grades 1 -8 have been issued a student agenda. The main ways teachers will communicate with parents/guardians are by email, phone, and the student agenda. If you email a teacher after school or after a teacher’s planning period, you will probably not receive a response until the next day. If you email a teacher on the weekend, you will not receive a response until Monday. If you have any concerns, please reach out to the teacher first.
• Pay Schools Central is where parents/guardians pay class fees, activity fees, and one of the ways you can make class donations. There is a link at herndonmagnet.caddoschools.org/. However, the Pay Schools Central site is experiencing technical difficulties. I will let you know when it is working properly so that you can begin paying fees. All fees are due by September 5, 2023.
• If your middle school student is interested in boys and girls cross-countryor girls’ fastpitch softball, there are sign-up sheets in the office.
• Middle school football practice starts tomorrow. If you son did not sign up, but he is interested in playing, please send a note with them giving permission to stay. We cannot allow anyone to practice that has not had a physical, but he can watch and learn. We can send the physical sheet home with anyone who needs it.
• Some of Herndon’s Spirit Teams will be participating in “Meet the Titans” on Thursday, August 17 at NCMHS, and in Northwood’s Community Night on Tuesday, August 22. Both of these great events start at 6:00 PM.
• Every Friday will be a Spirit Clothes Day at Herndon. Students can only wear jeans, jean shorts, or uniform bottoms. The jeans or jean shorts must not have holes, rips, or tears in them. Jean shorts cannot be more than four (4) inches above the knees all the way around. On Spirit Clothes Day, students may wear any Herndon shirt. All clothes must meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• If you are active military, would you please let Mrs. Sparaco know by calling 221-7676 or by sending a note with your child.
• Please visit Herndon’s website at herndonmagnet.caddoschools.org or the Herndon Facebook page for additional information about upcoming activities and events.
