Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of August 21, 2023.
We have had a wonderful first full week of school. I cannot express how grateful I am to you for entrusting your children to us at Herndon.
Any 5th-8th grader wanting to play or try out for a sport must have a physical. Students who have not been able to have a physical done may stay after school on Monday, August 21, but must have a completely filled out form and a note to stay after school. I will include the form on an attached JText message that will come after this call.
Northwood’s Community Night is Tuesday, August 22, at 6:00 PM. Cheer and dance will be performing.
Softball tryouts will be Thursday, August 24, afterschool. Tryouts are closed to parents and guardians. Tryouts will be over by 5:15 PM. Girls will come to the front of the school when finished.
All middle school students have received their student ID. The first one is free. Students must wear the ID every school day. It should be on before getting on the bus in the mornings or before getting out of the car if your student is a car rider. You may want to purchase an extra one for $5.00 so that your student can keep it in their locker. Students will receive a discipline referral on the third time an ID is forgotten. Please see page 7 of the student agenda for uniform and ID violations.
If your child is a car rider, and wants to eat breakfast at school, he or she must arrive by 7:35 AM. The breakfast line closes at 7:55 AM.
All transportation changes must be made through the office. We prefer transportation changes to be in writing, but you may call the office at 221-7676. Afternoon changes must be made by 2:15 PM.
Pay Schools Central (www.payschoolscentral.com) is where parents/guardians pay class fees, activity fees, and one of the ways you can make class donations. There is a link at herndonmagnet.caddoschools.org/. All fees are due by September 5, 2023.
