Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of October 2, 2023.
• The Lady Hawks softball team will play Turner at 5:00 PM tomorrow, October 2, at Huntington High School. They will play again on Thursday, October 5, at Southwood High School against Walnut Hill at 5:30 PM. The price of admission is $5.00, and all tickets must be purchased at https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/.
• The Hawks Football team will be in action against Ringgold tomorrow, October 2, at Ringgold High School. The game will start at 5:30 PM, and the cost of admission is $5.00 per person.
• Tryouts for the Hawk Baseball Teams, teams that are associated with, butindependent from Herndon, will be held Tuesday, October 3, at 6:00 PM at the Blanchard Athletic Club.
• The 4th grade will participate in the Red River Revel on Tuesday, October 3, and the 1st grade on Friday, October 6. The Herndon NJHS will work at the Red River Revel as a service project on Thursday, October 5.
• There will be a Girl Scouts interest meeting on Thursday, October 5, in the Herndon auditorium at 5:00 PM.
• The Herndon Cross Country Team will have their first meet this Saturday, September 30, in the Byrd Invitational at South Bossier Park. The cost of admission is $5.00 per car, and this is cash only. The next one will be on Saturday, October 14, at WK Palmetto XC Classic 2023. This meet is hosted by Benton Middle School at Palmetto Country Club in Benton, Louisiana.
• The first nine weeks ends Friday, October 6. This is also a Street Clothes Day for students. Please make sure your students follow CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• Schools will be closed for Fall Break from October 9 – 13. Students return to school on Monday, October 16, and the second nine weeks begins.
• A-Wing students need to keep a change of clothes in their backpack for “just in case” accidents and/or emergencies.
• October 2 is the last day to purchase the 2023-2024 Herndon Highstepper Spirit Shirt on Local Level. This shirt, along with PTSA spirit wear, may be worn any day of the week. Please make sure your student is not wearing homemade or other Herndon created tops Monday through Thursday because these are not official tops. They may wear these on Fridays, as long as they meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• The Herndon Choir is selling Double Good Popcorn through October 5 to help offset expenses of choir and to help honor choir students travel to New Orleans.
• The last day to order PTSA Spirit Wear for Round 2 is October 7 at midnight.
• There will be a 5K and Fun Run in Downtown Oil City on October 21, 2023 at 8:30 AM. This event is open to everyone, and it is sponsored by one of Herndon’s Community Partners, Fresh Oil Worship Center.
