Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of March 4, 2024.
• Congratulations to 7th grader Michelle Jiang for representing Herndon at the Regional Spelling Bee at LSU-S on Saturday, March 2.
• Herndon PTSA is pre-selling Nothing Bundt Cake Bundlets on Local Level. The sale ends Tuesday, March 5. All Bundtlets will be delivered Thursday, March 21.
• The Lady Hawks Soccer Team will play Lakeside at Lakeside Stadium tomorrow, March 4, at Lakeside Jr/Sr High School, 9090 Hwy 371, Sibley, Louisiana 71073.
• The 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball teams will play in the first round of the playoffs tomorrow, March 5, at Airline Church of Christ, 2125 Airline Dr., Bossier City, La. 71111. The 7th grade will play Shreveport Force at 6:30 PM, and the 8th grade boys will play Youree Drive at 7:30 PM. The winners of each game will advance to the Championship on Thursday, March 7.
• There will be a 4-H meeting for middle school members on Tuesday, March 5.
• This week is Student Council Week at Herndon for K-8. Please see the Herndon website for the theme each day. The theme for each day will also be attached to the JWebb message that will follow this JCall. Students may wear jeans or uniform bottoms each day. Students not following CPSB Dress Code Policy will forfeit the privilege of dressing in street clothes on Friday, March 8.
• The elections for Student Council will be Friday morning, March 8. The Middle School Sadie Hawkins Dance will be Friday afterschool from 3:25 pm – 4:30 pm. All tickets must be purchased on Local Level.
• The third nine-week reporting period ends Friday, March 8. The fourth nine weeks reporting period begins on Monday, March 18.
• Do not forget to set your clocks up one hour Saturday night before going to bed. Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 10.
• Schools will be closed for Spring Break from March 11 – March 15. Students return from Spring Break on Monday, March 18.
• Plans are being made for parents/guardians to watch the eclipse at Herndon with your child on April 8, 2024. Details for this event will be coming home after Spring Break.
• Save the dates: North Caddo Magnet High School will have its open house for 8th graders on Tuesday, April 2. Eclipse event at Herndon on April 8. 4-H Livestock Clinic on Saturday, April 27.
