Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of April 15, 2024.
• A special thanks to the PTSA Board for hosting Faculty and Staff Appreciation last week and to everyone who donated and/or sponsored one of the days.
• I want to thank students, parents, and the faculty that participated and/or volunteered at ArtBreak. I hope to put out information this week of all the ArtBreak events that Herndon won.
• The deadline to order Field Day t-shirts is tomorrow, April 15.
• The boys and girls track team will be in action at Lee Hedges on Tuesday, April 16, for the League II championship. The field eventsstart at 5:00 PM and the track events at 5:30 PM. All tickets must be purchased on Local Level, and the cost is $7.00.
• On Wednesday, April 17, grades 3-8 will begin LEAP testing. LEAPtesting dates are April 17-19, and April 22-23. I am asking students to leave their cell phones and smart watches at home during testing. Students in grades 3-8 will not need their backpacks during LEAP testing days, but they will need a book to read for after testing. Please make sure your student is here each day of testing, and that they get a good breakfast at home or at school each day. Students and teachers have been working hard this school year, and we are looking forward to some great results.
• Fourth nine weeks progress reports will go home Wednesday, April 17.
