Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of May 13, 2024.
• Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful Herndon Moms!
• Students will not bring backpacks this last week of school. Students will need their agenda, something to write with, and something to write on this week. We will work and take attendance each day.
• The last day of school, and the end of the 4th nine weeks and second semester, is Thursday, May 16, 2024.
• Congratulations to the 8th grade Algebra I students and their teachers, Miss Sally Dickerson and Mrs. Sabrina Hiscock. All Algebra I students scored Mastery or Advanced on the LEAP 2025 Algebra I test.
• With all the EOY celebrations and events, please remember that for celebrations and events during the school day, no siblings at Herndon or students from other schools (public, private, charter, home school, etc.) that are still in session may attend.
• The EOY Pep Rally for grades 3-8 is tomorrow, and it will start at 8:30 AM. Visitors, please let us get all students seated and then we will let you find a seat.
• Yearbooks will be delivered on Monday. Homeroom teachers will have the yearbooks of students who preordered on Local Level. Students who purchased an EXTRA yearbook on Local Level will need to come by Mrs. Katie Barr's room to sign and pick it up Monday morning. We have 20 extra books left on a first-come, first-served, basis. Those can be purchased with Mrs. Johnson beginning Monday morning. $65 cash or check to Herndon.
• Middle school students will have a yearbook signing party in the gym at 2:30 PM tomorrow.
• The EOY Awards Celebration for grades 3-8 for students who received an invitation will be tomorrow in the auditorium at 6:00 PM.
• Kindergarten Commencement will be Tuesday, May 14, at 8:30 AM in the auditorium.
• Eighth Grade Commencement will be Wednesday, May 15, at 10:00 AM in the auditorium.
• The EOY Slide Show will be Thursday, May 16.
• The EOY Basketball Celebration will be Thursday May 16, 2024, at Surge from 5pm-7pm. Bring 10 dollars to enjoy bowling, arcade games and pizza. 10 dollars must be turned into to Mr. Smith by Tuesday May 14th.
• As we bring the 2023-2024 school year to a close, I want to thank you for entrusting your students to Herndon Magnet School. I wish I could say that we do not make mistakes, but we do. However, we love your children and only want the very best for them.
