Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of October 21, 2024.

• Report Cards and other information will come home tomorrow, October 21, with students. Please sign the report card and return it to school on Tuesday, October 22. Students will receive the original report card when the copy is signed and returned. If your student does not receive a report card, that means they have an overdue library book or owe for a book.
• The Lady Hawks Softball Team will play Turner tomorrow, October 21, at Cargill Park. The game will start at 6:30 PM. They will play North Caddo Middle School on Wednesday, October 23, at North Caddo High School. This game will start at 5:30 PM. All tickets must be purchased on Local Level. Softball playoffs will begin Monday, October 28, and games will be played at Captain Shreve High School.
• The Highsteppers Dance Clinic for grades 3-5 will be held afterschool on Tuesday, October 22, and the clinic for grades K-2 will be held afterschool on Wednesday, October 23Both clinics are from 3:30 – 5:30 PM, and are for girls who registered. The girls will perform on Family Fun Night on Thursday, October 24, at 6:30 PM.
• Family Fun Night will be held at Herndon on Thursday, October 24 from 5 PM – 8 PM. Skip the lines and preorder tickets at locallevelevents.com. There will be food, fun, fellowship, games, Bingo, inflatables, silent auction, and other activities this night. All funds raised benefit the students, teachers, various teams, and programs at Herndon.
• All Halloween activities at Herndon will be on Friday, October 25. Students may dress in their Halloween Costumes that follow CPSB policy. All costumes must be age appropriate and family friendly. If participating on Oct. 25, please adhere to: No Plastic Masks or costume masks; No Face Paint that makes student unrecognizable; No Political Costumes; and NO Imitation Weapons of Any Kind. The principal or principal designee will have the final say on whether the costume meets CPSB policy. 
• We kicked off our school-wide Turkey Trot Fundraiser last week on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Students should have brought home information about this Fun Run/Obstacle Course. With this fundraiser, we want to purchase a digital sign for the front of the school, and do some other upgrades for students, faculty/staff, and guests that come on campus.
• Kindergarten classes are currently selling Popcorn Boo Bags for $1.00. The last day to purchase is Wednesday, October 30.
• Elementary and Middle Magnet Applications are now available on the CPSB website until January 10, 2025. Testing will be in January and February. Please help us spread the word about HERNDON MAGNET SCHOOL,an A rated school. If you know someone who would like to tour the school, please have them call 221-7676.
