Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of October 28, 2024.

• I want to thank everyone who came out to Family Fun Night. It was a great success! Special thanks to the HMS PTSA Executive Board, parent volunteers, and the great student volunteers from North Caddo Magnet High School.
• The Lady Hawks Softball Team will play in the second game of the semi-finals tomorrow, October 28, at 6:45 PM, against CMM. After the first game, which starts at 5:30 PM, the park will be cleared for the HMS/CMM game. This is being done so that the four schools can split the playoff money equally. The games will be played at Captain Shreve, and all tickets must be purchased on Local Level. The playoff tickets are $10.00 each.
• We will have a Pep Rally for grades 5- 8 tomorrow at 2:40 PM. We will be honoring Cross Country, Football, Volleyball, and the semi-final bound Lady Hawks Softball Team. Because of the pep rally, tomorrow is a Spirit Clothes Day for K-8. Students may wear any Herndon shirt that does not have signatures or drawings on them and jeans. Spirit clothes must meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• The HMS Beginning Band will have a concert in the gym on Tuesday, October 29, at 6:00 PM.
• Kindergarten classes are currently selling Popcorn Boo Bags for $1.00. The last day to purchase is Wednesday, October 30. Boo Bags will be delivered on Thursday, October 31.
• The Caddo Magnet High Jazz Band will be playing during middle school lunch on Wednesday, October 30.
• The PTSA special dress day is Thursday, October 31. Students who purchased the package, or pay the $4.00 on Local Level, may wear a Halloween/Fall Sports Top and Jeans that meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• Herndon yearbooks will be on sale three times this year! From now until November 15, we are having an “Early Bird Sale,” and the yearbook price is $55 with free personalization.
• The Parent’s Night Out has been rescheduled for Friday, November 8. Tickets are available on Local Level for the first 100 K-5 students.
• Herndon’s school-wide Turkey Trot Fundraiser is in full gear. We are trying to raise funds to purchase a digital sign for the front of the school, and to do some other upgrades for students, faculty/staff, and guests that come on campus.
• Elementary and Middle Magnet Applications are now available on the CPSB website until January 10, 2025. Testing will be in January and February.
