Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of November 18, 2024.
• Thanks to all the grandparents that came out last week for Grandparents Days. We had over 900 grandparents on campus. A special thanks to the PTSA for hosting the snacks and picture booths for Grandparents Days.
• Congratulations to sixth grader Gadin Wall. He won the HARK Student Competition and $500 for his artwork.
• Progress Reports came home Friday. Please sign and return tomorrow.
• Lady Hawks soccer tryouts begin tomorrow for 6th -8th grade girls.
• Herndon’s Turkey Trot is Tuesday, November 19. Tonight is the last night for online donations. We are hoping that all K-8 students will participate. On Tuesday, all students may wear sweatpants, wind pants, or shorts (no more than 4 inches above the knees all the way around) and any Herndon spirit shirt. No leggings of any kind may be worn. Students need to bring a towel and possibly a change of clothes if they are part of the slip and slime or bubble party. If you have cash or check donations, they must be turned in by 8:30 am tomorrow morning.
• The PTSA Dress-Up Day has been changed to Thursday, November 21. Students may wear Thanksgiving or Football Top & Jeans.
• On Thursday, November 21, 4th grade will travel to Medieval Times in Dallas, and 6th grade will travel to Washington State Park in Washington, Arkansas.
• Kindergarten will have their Thanksgiving Play and Feast on Thursday, November 21, at 1:30 pm in the auditorium.
• Christmas pictures will be taken Friday, November 22, for students who return their photo sheets.
• On Friday, first grade will have a field trip to Busy B Ranch.
• Miles for Smiles will service Herndon students on Friday.
• Friday is a Street Clothes Day. Please follow Street Clothes Day requirements. All clothes must meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• Schools will be closed for Thanksgiving break from November 25 – 29. Students return on Monday, December 2. When students return, we will have 14 days left in the second nine weeks and the first semester.
• As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to personally thank you for entrusting your children with Herndon Magnet School.
• Elementary and Middle Magnet Applications are now available on the CPSB website until January 10, 2025. Testing will be in January and February. Please help us spread the word about HERNDON MAGNET SCHOOL,an A rated school. If you know someone who would like to tour the school, please have them call 221-7676.
