Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of February 24, 2025.
• Congratulations to Herndon 7th grader Reid Rumbaugh for winning Reserve Grand Champion Louisiana Bred Angus Bull in Baton Rouge at the LSU show last weekend.
• I want to thank the 8th grade students, 8th grade parents/guardians, 7thgrade parent volunteers, and the faculty/staff at Herndon, especially 8thgrade teachers, for making Mardi Gras a success on Friday, February 21.
• The Lady Hawks Soccer team will play tomorrow at North Caddo Magnet High School Stadium against Youree Drive. The game will start at 6 PM, and tickets must be purchased on Local Level.
• The Lady Hawks Basketball Team, and the 7th and 8th grade Boys’ basketball teams will play tomorrow against North Bossier and Tuesday(2/25) against Providence. On Thursday (2/27), the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys’ teams will play against CMM and Evangel. The first game starts at 5:30 PM each night.
• Mrs. Lacy and the awesome Herndon Band will travel to ULM for a Pre-Festival Clinic tomorrow. The band will leave Herndon at 8:00 AM and return around 3:00 PM.
• On Thursday, February 27, elementary classes and various sports teamsand clubs will take yearbook pictures.
• On Thursday, February 27, the first grade will have their Mardi Gras Parade and other activities.
• Middle school will have Dodge Ball and Corn Hole for Heart Tournament on Friday, February 28, 2025.
• The school-wide Mardi Gras Parade will be held Friday, February 28, at 1:45 PM.
• Since the Mardi Gras Parade is a school-wide celebration, we will have Street Clothes Day on Friday, February 28, for Herndon students that have not lost the privilege of wearing street clothes. All clothes must follow CPSB Dress Code Policy. Students may not wear leggings of any kind, or tight-fitting bottoms. This applies to all students in all grades
• The Herndon PTSA is pre-selling Nothing Bundt Cake Bundlets on Local Level. The sale will run through March 4th.
• There are only two weeks left in the third nine weeks reporting period.Please make sure your student is doing their very best and turning in all class work and assignments.
• We have six weeks until LEAP testing. The dates are April 14-16 and April 22-23. Attendance at school and arriving on time is vital for your student’s academic success.
