Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of March 3, 2025.

 

• Student Council Week Dress-Up for grades 3 -8 will Be March 3-March 7. 6th and 7th grade will hear speeches and vote on Friday, March 7. What students can wear will be attached to a message following this JCall.
• Read Across America week for grades K-2 will run from March 3- 7. What students can wear will be attached to a message following this JCall.
• Magnet contract signing for new students will be tomorrow at 5:30 PM and Tuesday, March 4, at 8:30 AM.
• Prime Time will be Tuesday, March 4, for those families who are registered.
• The Lady Hawks Soccer Team will play Webster at Minden High School on Tuesday, March 4, at 6 PM. They will play Providence at Freedom Fields on Thursday, March 6, at 6 PM.
• On March 5, 2025, the Intermediate and Advanced Band will participate in District Assessment at Airline High School in Bossier City.
• The 5th Grade Boys Basketball Team will play in the Championship Game on Thursday, March 6 at 5:30 PM. This game will be played at First Baptist Bossier.
• On Friday, March 7, kindergarten will travel to Sci-Port.
• Friday, March 7, is a Street Clothes Day for students who have not lost that privilege. All clothes must follow CPSB Dress Code Policy. Students may not wear leggings of any kind or tight-fitting bottoms. This applies to all students in all grades.
• The Herndon PTSA is pre-selling Nothing Bundt Cake Bundlets on Local Level. The sale ends Tues., Mar. 4. Please consider participating in this fundraiser. The PTSA executive board funds multiple activities, conferences and events, and they purchase items and equipment that Herndon does not receive funding for by the district. 
• On Thursday, March 6, the Third Grade will have their Wax Museum in the auditorium at 6:00 PM.
• Along with all the activities on Friday, March 7, it is a Snow Cone Day. All orders must be placed on Local Level by March 6. No late orders will be accepted.
• The Herndon Sadie Hawkins Dance for middle school will be Friday, March 7. Students must purchase a ticket on Local Level to stay after school. 
• I never got to officially congratulate the winners of the Herndon Beauty Pageant. The winners were: MS- Ella Hale- Miss Herndon,5th- Riley Brown - Young Junior Miss Herndon, 4th-  Sophia Randall - Young Miss Herndon, 3rd- Leah Statham - Petite Miss Herndon,2nd- Brynnlee Slack - Little Miss Herndon, 1st- Josie Oliver - Miniature Miss Herndon, K-Halle-Ann Jones -  Tiny Miss Herndon
• The Highsteppers competed in Regionals yesterday, and once I have the results, I will let you know. However, at the Kilgore Competition, the Ladies were: 2nd Place in Academic Champion, Sweepstakes in Hip Hop, and 3rd in Best in Class Teams. Congratulations to the Highsteppers and their sponsor, Mrs. Kelly Rice.
• Schools will be closed for Spring Break from March 10 – March 14. Students return to school on March 17.
• When we return from Spring Break, we will have four weeks until LEAP testing. The dates are April 14-16 and April 22-23. Attendance at school and arriving on time is vital for your student’s academic success.
