Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of April 22, 2025.
• I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We look forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow.
• LEAP testing resumes tomorrow, and will be completed on Wednesday, April 23, except for make-up tests. I am asking students to leave their cell phones, smart watches, regular watches, and all electronic devices at home on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students in grades 3-8 do not bring backpacks during testing. They will need their student agenda and a book to read after testing each day. Middle school students will need their permanent student ID. Please make sure your student is here each day of testing, and that they get a good breakfast at home or at school each day. Students and teachers have been working diligently this school year, and we are expecting some great results.
• The 4th Nine Weeks Progress Reports will come home Wednesday, April23. Please sign and return it to school on Thursday, April 24.
• The NJHS and Student Council will have their end-of-the-year field trip and service project on Thursday, April 24. Students must be finished with the LEAP to attend.
• The 6th Grade U.S. Exploration Program will be Thursday, April 24, at 6:00 PM. The program will begin in the auditorium.
• Elementary will have their Field Day on Friday, April 25. Tickets and bracelets must be purchased on Local Level.
• Students who have not lost the privilege of wearing Street Clothes may wear clothes that meet CPSB Dress Code Policy on Thursday and Friday, April 24 & 25. NO Leggings of any kind, No Yoga pants or flare pants of any kid, No skin tight clothes of any kind, and shorts, skirts, and dresses cannot be more than 4 inches above the knees all the way around. This applies for all grade-levels.
• Magnet Contracts for the 2025-2026 school year are not valid until a final review of academics, attendance, and behavior are made at the end of this school year. Students not having their contract renewed will receive a letter in the mail in June.
• If you, your business/company, or your church, would like to sponsor breakfast, lunch, or prizes for Herndon’s Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week, April 28 – May 2, please email the HMS PTSA at herndonptsa1@gmail.com. There is also information on Local Level.
