Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of May 2, 2022.

• Congratulations to Jahzi Strickland who won third place in the discus and shotput and Baileigh Ebarb who repeated as the champion of the 1600 meter race at the Caddo Parish Middle School Track Championship on Tuesday, April 26
• Congratulations to 5th grader Myles Smith who participated in the 2022 State 4-H Shooting Sports Competition in Gonzales and Port Allen last week.
• LEAP testing for grades 4-8 begins tomorrow and runs through Friday, May 6. The third grade will finish testing on Tuesday, May 3. All that grades 3-8 students need to bring for testing is an AR book and a lunch, if not eating a cafeteria lunch. Middle school students must wear their student ID each day. Please leave cell phones and smartwatches at home during testing.
• Please make sure your student is here each day of testing, and that they get a good breakfast at home or at school each day. Students and teachers have been working hard this school year, and we are looking forward to some great results.
• K-2 will have Field Day on Wednesday, May 18, 3-5 on Thursday, May 19, and MS AAGD will be Friday, May 20. Parents are invited to all these events.
• AAGD and Field Day shirts are on sale at www.locallevelevents.com.
• Since it is getting hotter, please send a water bottle or a clear thermos with your student each day. Students can refill their bottles during the day.
