Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of September 19, 2022:
• September 17-23 is Constitution Week. At Herndon, we recognize the greatest of the Constitution of the United States of America and celebrate its 235th anniversary.
• Yearbook pictures were taken on Thursday, September 15. Your student should have come home with a yellow sheet of paper explaining how to access his or her photo. If for some reason your child did receive the yellow sheet, please email cowenstudiosnela@gmail.com.
• Speaking of yearbooks, Herndon Yearbooks are on sale now at www.locallevelevents.com. This is an early bird special for $50 with free personalization.
• The Lady Hawks softball team will play Turner at Huntington High School on Thursday, September 22. The game starts at 5:00 PM, and tickets must be purchased at locallevelevents.com. The game with North Caddo that was scheduled for September 20 has been rescheduled for October 4.
• The HMS PTSA will be selling healthy Hawk Treats on Friday, September 23. Most items are $1.00.
• Every Friday will be a Spirit Clothes Day at Herndon. Students can only wear jeans or jean shorts. The jeans or jean shorts must not have holes, rips, or tears in them. Jean shorts cannot be more than four (4) inches above the knees all the way around. On Spirit Clothes Day, students may wear any Herndon shirt. All clothes must meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• The Vivian Farmer’s Market will be held this Saturday, September 24 from 7 AM – 1 PM.
• Super Safety Saturday will be held at Sheriff’s Safety Town this Saturday, September 24 from 9 AM – Noon.
• Elementary and Middle Magnet Applications are now available on the CPSB website until January 6, 2023. You can also find information on Herndon’s website on the “Home” page. Testing will be in January and February. Please help us spread the word about HERNDON MAGNET SCHOOL.
• Due to conflicts with other activities in the community, Family Fun Night at Herndon has been moved from October 6 to October 27 from 5 PM – 8 PM.
• Thanks for all your support as we try to make Herndon’s motto, “Where Excellence is Our Minimum Standard,” a reality every day.
