Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of October 24, 2022.
• Report Cards were sent home Friday, October 21, unless your student owed for a library book or had overdue library books. Please sign and return the yellow copy. Your student will receive the official copy when the yellow copy is returned. Some students will be receiving contract warning notices for academics, attendance, and/or behavior. Please sign contract warning notices and return to your student’s homeroom teacher.
• The Lady Hawks Softball Team is 7- 1, and must play Donnie Bickham, who is 7-1, in a tie breaker game tomorrow. This game will determine first place in League II and playoff pairings. The game will be played at Northwood at 5:00 PM. All tickets must be purchased at locallevelevents.com. All students who attend the game to cheer the Lady Hawks will receive a Free Dress Day Pass. Students must find Mr. Thomas to receive the pass. The semi-finals are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, and the Softball Championship is scheduled for Thursday, November 3.
• We will have a Pep Rally for grades 5-8 on Tuesday, October 25, at 2:45 PM. We will recognize Herndon’s Cross Country, Football, and Softball Teams.
• The Herndon Hawks Football Team will play their last game of the season on Tuesday, October 25, against Haynesville in Haynesville. The game starts at 5:30 PM.
• On Wednesday, October 26, 8th grade students will participate in “High School Highlights” to hear about local high schools and the programs they offer.
• The dance clinic for grades 3-5 will be Tuesday, October 25 from 3:30 –5:30 PM, and for grades K-2, it will be Wednesday, October 26 from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. The dance clinic is for girls who signed up and paid for the clinic before Fall Break. The girls will perform a dance at Family Fun Night at 6:30 PM.
• If you would like to make a donation to help Herndon’s Honor Choir recipients travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, from October 27-29, 2022, you can make a check payable to Herndon Magnet School. Please designate Honor Choir on the check.
• Family Fun Night will be held at Herndon on Thursday, October 27 from 5 PM – 8 PM. Tickets can be preordered at locallevelevents.com. There will be food, fun, fellowship, games, inflatables, silent auction, and other activities this night. All funds raised benefit the students, teachers, various teams, and programs at Herndon.
• All Halloween activities at Herndon will be on Friday, October 28.Students may dress in their Halloween Costumes that follow CPSB policy. All costumes must be age appropriate and family friendly. If participating on Oct. 28, please adhere to: No Plastic Masks or costume masks; No Face Paint that makes student unrecognizable; No Political Costumes; and NO Imitation Weapons of Any Kind. The principal or principal designee will have the final say on whether the costume meets CPSB policy.
• Herndon Yearbooks are on sale now at www.locallevelevents.com. This is an early bird special for $50 with free personalization.
• Elementary and Middle Magnet Applications are now available on the CPSB website until January 6, 2023. You can also find information on Herndon’s website on the “Home” page. Testing will be in January and February. Please help us spread the word about HERNDON MAGNET SCHOOL. If you know someone who missed Open House, and would like to tour the school, please have them call 221-7676.
