Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of October 31, 2022.
• PTSA Dress Up Day for Halloween will be tomorrow October 31, 2022 for those who paid on Local Level. Students may wear jeans and a Halloween shirt or fall shirt. Please follow CPSB Dress Code Policy.
• Kindergarten sponsored Boo Bags will be delivered to students tomorrow, October 31.
• All 8th grade field trip permission slips must be turned in by Tuesday, November 1. In addition, all class fees, activity fees must be turned in and paid by November 1 in order to go on the field trip Friday. We are also asking for $11 field trip donations to help cover the costs of tickets, buses, etc.
• The semi-final softball playoff game between Herndon and Caddo Middle Magnet will be played Tuesday, November 1, at 5:30 PM. The game will be played at Captain Shreve High School and tickets must be purchased on Local Level.
• On Tuesday, November 1 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium, the HMS Bands will present their first concert of the school year. We would love for you to be in attendance and see what our students have been working on. The beginning band students will perform first, followed by the combined intermediate and advanced bands.
• On Friday, November 4, 2022, we will have awards recognition for the first nine weeks for elementary students in their homeroom classes. 1stand 2nd grades will be from 8:15 AM – 8:45 AM, and 3rd-5th grades will be from 8:45 AM – 9:15 AM. Parents are invited.
• 8th graders who have paid all fees will travel to the Strand on Friday, November 4, to watch several plays.
• 3rd grade Discoveries and Gateway will have a field trip to Natchitoches on Friday, November 4.
• Basketball tryouts for middle school girls and boys will be Friday, November 4, from 3:30 – 5:00 PM.
• We are so excited to participate in Pack the Pantry again this year. Student Council will be collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items during the month of November for the Northwest Louisiana Food Bank. In addition, we will also offer students the opportunity to make a donation. With each dollar that we donate, the Food Bank can purchase $10 worth of food. Students who donate $5 will get to wear street clothes on November 16 and November 17. There will also be prizes for the homeroom classes that bring the most food donations by November 18. It is for a great cause, and 100% of the donations go to help people from Northwest Louisiana.
• Herndon Yearbooks are on sale now at www.locallevelevents.com. This is an early bird special for $50 with free personalization.
• Elementary and Middle Magnet Applications are now available on the CPSB website until January 6, 2023. You can also find information on Herndon’s website on the “Home” page. Testing will be in January and February. Please help us spread the word about HERNDON MAGNET SCHOOL. If you know someone who missed Open House, and would like to tour the school, please have them call 221-7676.
