Get ready for a heartwarming dose of holiday spirit! Our amazing National Junior Honors Society, led by President Kambria Clark and Vice President Miles Herndon, spearheaded a school-wide toy drive that brought mountains of Christmas cheer to Roy's Kids! Students at YDMS truly pitched in this holiday season, transforming the school into a festive gift-giving haven.✨🎁🎄 But the giving didn't stop there! Principal Maria Edwards presented Mike Powell, the founder of Roy's Kids, a $2,000 donation from the school to the charity. Two amazing teams from YDMS competed in the First Lego League Challenge this past Saturday at SciPort Discovery Center in Shreveport! 🎉 🎉 🎉 Both teams did a fantastic job in the Lego Robotics Challenge and impressed the judges with their innovation projects. 🤖⭐️ The "Spartan Cyclone" team, consisting of Mathew Underwood, Pierce Elliott, Tristian Tesch, and Kaden Dennis, showed off their skills and creativity. The "Spartan Hurricane" team, made up of EmmaLee Clinton, Brittany Payne, Tizrah Tisdon, and Daniel Martinez, took home the 1st Place Core Values Award and earned enough points to directly qualify for the Louisiana State Tournament in the Spring! 🏆🎉 We are incredibly proud of all of these students for their hard work and dedication!
