The objective of the Instruction Department is to ensure collaborative implementation of effective instructional programs and services to meet the individual needs of students according to their Individualized Education Program. Coordination of specific training needs are determined and provided to Instructional Staff, school-based administrators, and teachers in order to meet state and federal guidelines in providing a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to students with exceptionalities. Participation with various community groups, organizations, and agencies that are concerned with exceptional children is necessary for public understanding. We ensure services are provided to all Caddo Parish Public Schools, Early Childhood Special Education Centers, Early Head Start and Head Start Programs, and Type III Child Care Centers. Our department includes student centered services such as Hearing and Vision, Adaptive Physical Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Autism Support, Vocation and Transition Services, Augmentative Communication, Gifted and Talented Instructional Services, and direct leadership and instructional support to school administrators and staff. The Gifted Program challenges students by providing differentiated, accelerated and enriched curriculum. The Gifted Curriculum includes differentiation, high-order thinking skills, enrichment activities, acceleration at an advanced level. The Talented Arts Program provides opportunities for students who exhibit and demonstrate a unique ability in the visual and performing arts by providing individualized instruction to include visual arts, instrumental music, vocal music and theatre. Students are provided with a challenging curriculum that is specific to their identified needs.
