The Caddo Parish School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerry Bowman, Jr. as the interim representative for District 7 following a special session vote held on Tuesday. Bowman brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to public service, having previously served in key community leadership roles.
As interim Board representative, Bowman will work alongside other Board members and district leaders to ensure that the students, families, and staff members of District 7 are well-represented. Bowman will serve in this capacity until a permanent representative is selected in the March 29, 2025 special election.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the District 7 representative on the Board and bring much-needed stability to our community,” Bowman said. “I look forward to working with schools, principals, teachers, and families to come together to make sure we are doing everything in our power to ensure District 7 schools have what they need for student success.”
Bowman’s tenure as interim Board representative is effective immediately. He is committed to engaging with constituents and advocating for the needs of the district, as well as supporting ongoing efforts to enhance student achievement and educational resources in Caddo Parish.
Board President Jessica Yeates expressed confidence in Bowman’s leadership, saying, “We are excited to welcome Jerry Bowman, Jr. to the Caddo Parish School Board. His dedication to our community and passion for education will be invaluable as we work together to continue improving outcomes for all students.”
Bowman has roots in District 7 with both of his parents attending Oak Park and Bethune schools. He also is no stranger to public service having served on the Shreveport City Council from 2015 through 2022.
