Meet Lily Drach, Caddo's Student Leader of the Month for January. Lily is a senior at Northwood High School where she serves as the president of the student council and participates in FAME, 4H, National Honor Society, and tennis. After graduating in May, she plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and major in political science with a minor in communications. We are excited to see all Lily will accomplish.
Caddo Parish schools and sites will be open on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Based on the latest forecast information from the National Weather Service, road conditions are not anticipated to be a concern. However, we want to remind our families to take precautions as temperatures are expected to be unusually low throughout the day.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure children are dressed warmly and appropriately for the cold weather, particularly as they wait for buses or walk to school. Students are advised to wear hats, scarves, and gloves or mittens to retain body heat, but must also be mindful of school dress codes once entering campus.
We encourage families to take a moment to prepare for the day, ensuring children are bundled up before heading out into the cold. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority, and we look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Tuesday.
In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all schools and district offices will be closed on Monday, January 20. This national holiday honors Dr. King's extraordinary legacy as a civil rights leader and champion of justice. We encourage our families to reflect on his timeless message of fairness, service, and unity.
January is National School Board Recognition Month, and we’re proud to celebrate the 12 dedicated members of the Caddo Parish School Board! Congratulations to Arisha "Rishi" Sultana, Caddo's High School Student of the Year, who has been named one of the nation's top 300 teen scientists by the Society of Science as part of the Regeneron Science Talent Search. The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. For her recognition, Rishi and her school, Caddo Parish Magnet High School, will each receive $2,000. Congratulations, Rishi!
Caddo's latest Attendance Conference and Resource Fair will take place on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Summer Grove Baptist Church, located at 8924 Jewella Avenue. Current forecasts indicate that the winter weather has the potential to create hazardous road conditions, expected to persist overnight and into Friday morning.
The district continues to encourage stakeholders to stay informed by following local weather updates and checking media outlets for the latest information on this week’s winter weather.
All Caddo Parish schools and district sites will be open for regular operations on Thursday, Jan. 9; however, all after-school and extracurricular activities will be canceled.
This decision is based on the latest forecast information from the National Weather Service and consultation with Caddo Parish emergency response agencies. The district will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and will provide an update to stakeholders on Thursday afternoon regarding any potential closures for Friday.
The district encourages stakeholders to stay informed by monitoring local weather forecasts and tuning in to media outlets for the latest updates on this week’s anticipated winter weather.

Exciting news for Caddo Schools! S&P Global Ratings has revised its outlook on Caddo Parish Schools to positive, reflecting our strong fiscal management and commitment to financial excellence.
In addition to this milestone, we’re proud to share that Caddo Schools has reduced millage rates by more than 2 mills this year, continuing a tradition of financial responsibility that has saved taxpayers significantly over the years.
