BLACK HISTORY MONTH: We are proud to celebrate and recognize the people who have contributed to the rich history of Caddo Parish Public Schools. Dr. Elbert E. Allen was the first Black elected to the Caddo Parish School Board in 1970. Dr. Allen served on the school board from January 1971 to December 1974. We appreciate the Bossier Chamber of Commerce and Bossier Innovates Foundation for acknowledging our students' hard work in the classroom. BLACK HISTORY MONTH: We would like to recognize some of the leaders who have made a tremendous impact in our schools and shaped the history of our district. Ollie Tyler was appointed as the first African American and the first woman to serve as Superintendent of Caddo Parish Public Schools. Huntington High School will host a Battle of the Drumlines Competition at 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 25 inside the gym. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and tickets will be sold at the door for $8.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: We are recognizing leaders who were changemakers for our school district and transformed its future. Rev. E. Edward Jones was the Pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and filed a lawsuit on behalf of his daughter, spearheading the desegregation of the Caddo Parish School System. MUSIC MONDAY: Congratulations to members of the Huntington High Choir for receiving Superior ratings at the Louisiana Tech Music Rally! Students competing in the Large Ensemble, SATB Quartet, Solo Vocalist Division and Piano Performance categories all earned the top honor. The Interact Club at North Caddo Magnet partnered with Geaux 4 Kids to unpack 300 pillows, backpacks, and pajamas for distribution to children involved in emergency foster care situations. Geaux Bags provide children with necessities and comfort items during an emergency transition. #wearecaddo

Atkins Elementary was named a Louisiana Comeback Campus by the Louisiana Department of Education for achieving high performance in reading and math.
