While we salute all our teachers who have answered their calling in the classroom, we recognize that nearly 70% of K-12 educators across the U.S. are women. On this International Women's Day, we send a special thanks to all the women who make Caddo Schools run. We couldn't do it without you! #WeAreCaddo #InternationalWomensDay

Each year, 100 musically gifted students across Louisiana are selected to participate in statewide music concerts. This group of CMHS students were selected to perform at the 2021-2022 All State Orchestra led by the Louisiana Music Educators Association. Congrats to these incredible musicians! #WeAreCaddo #BIGDreamsStartHere

Southwood Senior DeMarcell Frierson has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Gates Scholarship, which supports Pell-Grant eligible underrepresented minorities in their pursuit of a college education. Every year, tens of thousands of applicants across the nation compete for this award, with less than 3% making it to the Finalist round.
DeMarcell has been a standout student on his campus. He has been Student Council President, crowned Homecoming King and was a Student of the Year finalist. He was one of two Southwood students who completed a fall internship at LSU Health Shreveport, where he ran statistical analysis to uncover genes that affect cancer progressions in cells. DeMarcell has accomplished all this despite working up to 30 hours a week and helping support his family.
We wish DeMarcell good luck and great success!

On this final day of Black History Month, the story of Eden Gardens Jr. Sr. High is shared by KSLA. This transitional class was weeks away from graduating when they were forced to integrate with another campus. Here's their story:

During the last Caddo Parish School Board meeting, we had an opportunity to highlight some of the great things happening around our district. Our student host Baylie Webb from Turner Elementary recognizes some perfect ACT students, what our schools have done to help Hurricane Ida evacuees and an amazing cadet who won a prestigious award in JROTC. #WeAreCaddo

We love having all our principals together in one place and this week it was in the name of ArtBreak! Following two years of missing the collective experience of the arts, ArtBreak is back on for 2022. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council hosted Caddo leaders to prepare for everything this upcoming #ArtBreak has to offer. Who has been missing ArtBreak?
